Ellidy’s world changed forever when she lost her partner, Alex ‘Chumpy’ Pullin, the love of her life. One moment, they were dreaming of the future together, and in the next, everything was shattered. But in the midst of heartbreak, a profound instinct took hold. Through the devastation, she knew without hesitation that she wanted to have his baby.
“If you’d told me a few years ago that I’d be standing here, a mum to the most beautiful little girl, I wouldn’t have believed you. Because my world shattered when I lost Chumpy, the love of my life.”
With the unwavering support of Chumpy’s family and doctors, Ellidy embarked on a journey that would bring hope in the darkest of times. The decision to retrieve Chumpy’s sperm was made swiftly, and soon after, her greatest blessing arrived: their daughter, Minnie.

“In the midst of the heartbreak, there was hope. There was Minnie. She is the light that found me in the darkest time, a piece of Chump that’s still here, smiling, laughing, growing every day. She is a walking, talking shadow of her dad, it’s the best thing ever. It’s also a constant and tough reminder of his absence. We miss him so much.”
Though Chumpy isn’t physically here, his presence is felt in every part of their lives. One of his greatest joys was running around the house singing Tina Turner’s "Simply the Best" to their beloved dog, Rummi. Now, Ellidy keeps that tradition alive, singing it to both Rummi and Minnie, knowing it’s exactly what Chumpy would have done.
“Her dad isn’t with us anymore, but he was absolutely born to dad and we feel him around us all the time.”
Motherhood has been raw, chaotic, exhausting, but above all, transformative. For Ellidy, it has been a journey of self-discovery, growth, and unlearning, as she learns to navigate life with Minnie by her side.
“She has taught me so much about myself, what I want to be, and how I want to show up for myself and for her. She’s also shown me that love doesn’t end; it transforms, carrying us forward for our heart to continue to grow.”
